Filter pore size is preferred as 500 microns. They can be designed with smaller pore sizes for more effective cleaning, but the pores become clogged in a short time and the filter needs to be cleaned. Considering the contaminants in milk resulting from feed, farm conditions and other environmental conditions, a pore size of 500 microns is ideal.
Duplex Filters are popularly used to avoid interrupting the milk flow during filter cleaning. While your clogged filter is being cleaned, the milk flow can be directed to the other filter via manual or pneumatic valves and the same process continues in circulation.
